Is Exercise Really Fun? Exploring Your Options

What’s the most fun way to exercise?

First, let’s define ‘fun’…

“Fun” is that feeling when you’re completely in the moment—smiling, laughing, maybe even losing track of time. It’s anything that brings you joy, excitement, or a sense of play, whether it’s something as simple as a walk in the park, a great conversation, a good joke, or something more wild like zip-lining through a forest. It’s personal, too—what’s fun for one person might be dull or stressful for someone else.So tell me—what feels like fun to you?

Philosophical/Playful Definition: Fun is the spark of joy in life—the moments that make you laugh, feel alive, and forget your worries. It’s the opposite of boredom and the companion of happiness.

So, now we know what fun is, what do we know about exercise?

Well, exercise is any physical activity that gets your body moving and your heart pumping. It can be as structured as lifting weights at the gym or as casual as gardening, walking the dog, or dancing in your living room. The main goal is to improve or maintain physical fitness, strength, flexibility, or overall health. It can be light and leisurely, or tough and sweaty—depends on your mood, your goals, and your body.

So, what is the most fun way to exercise?

Simple, the two don’t go together, exercise is not fun!
