Oh, lemon drizzle, sunshine’s twin,
A citrus cloud, where joy begins.
A sponge so light, it almost floats,
A tangy zest, that tickles throats.
I bake you often, or I try,
Though sometimes things do go awry.
The oven fumes, the timer pings,
And then, disaster! Soggy things!
Or worse, I’m keen, I’m on the ball,
I whip the eggs, I give my all,
The cake emerges, pale and sad,
A culinary episode, quite mad.
I persevere, I try again,
To conquer you, my citrus friend.
I watch the Bake Off, learn new tricks,
And dream of perfect lemon licks.
The drizzle drips, a sugary sheen,
A tangy, tempting, citrus queen.
I slice a sliver, take a bite,
And all the world feels sunny, bright.
So thank you, lemon, for your zest,
Your zingy tang, put to the test.
Though baking you can be a fright,
You’re worth the effort, every bite!
