Retirement… The Golden Decade.

Prompt: How do you want to retire?

I have! And it’s been the best ten years of my life!

The Golden Decade.

The alarm clock sleeps, a silent, dusty friend,
No morning rush, no schedule to attend.
The world outside can hum its busy tune,
My stage is set, beneath the afternoon.

Ten years have flown, a blink, a whispered sigh,
Since work’s long chapter finally said goodbye.
And oh, what years! A canvas bright and wide,
Where every dream had room to walk inside.

The garden blooms, a riot of delight,
My hands in earth, from morning into night.
The books I’ve read, the stories I’ve explored,
A universe of wisdom, deeply stored.

New paths discovered, mountains I have seen,
The salty air, a coastal, vivid scene.
With laughter shared, with friendships warm and true,
Each passing day a blessing, fresh and new.

No deadlines loom, no pressures weigh me down,
Just open road, in country or in town.
The freedom sings, a melody so clear,
Dispelling every worry, every fear.

This golden decade, etched within my soul,
Made all my scattered pieces finally whole.
A life well-lived, with joy in every part,
Retirement’s gift, a beating, happy heart.
