Winter’s Promise – A Poem.

The wind whispers secrets, a chilling refrain,

Of leaves turning crimson, then falling like rain.

The sun, a pale ghost, hangs low in the sky,

As nature prepares for a long, silent sigh.

The world, once vibrant, now cloaked in a shroud,

Of snow covered branches, where shadows crowd.

A stillness descends, a peaceful embrace,

As winter’s cold fingers paint landscape’s face.

But within this quiet, a change, takes its hold,

A change of heart, a story untold.

For beneath the cold surface, a warmth starts to bloom,

A longing for solace, a yearning for room.

In the earth’s cold chamber, a flicker of light,

A hope for renewal, a promise so bright.

This wintry charge, to a season of grace,

A time for reflection, a time to embrace.

A clear night is coming, neath starry skies,

A lift for the soul and a treat for the eyes.

The equinox over, and with days drawing out,

The snowdrops push upward and look all about.

Springtime is coming, we feel such delight,

Only then do we realise, life will be all right.
