What makes you uniquely you? Oh, come gather near
It’s not just your shoes (though those shoes are a fear).
It’s the way that you sneeze like a trumpet from Mars,
And the fact that you misplace your car keys in jars.
It’s your laugh that sounds like a seal trying to explain math,
Your habit of high-fiving potted plants on your path.
It’s the exact tilt of your head when you brow-furrow deeply,
And the playlist you hide that’s suspiciously sneaky!
It’s the stories you tell that start at “Once, I was fine,”
Then detour through refrigerators and on to a shrine.
It’s fingerprints, freckles, that mole shaped like a comma,
Your taste for midnight pickles and risking emotional drama.
It’s the scent of your jacket (library and rain),
The handshake you perfected to avoid long small-talk pain.
It’s stubborn opinions about breakfast at night,
And the way you insist puns are a distinct human right.
It’s the scars you’ve collected literal and metaphoric
The awkward dance moves you claim are choreographic.
It’s what you forgive, who you love, who you let go,
The secret recipe in your heart that no cookbook will show.
It’s your browser tabs open like a chaotic bouquet,
With tabs for pets you’ll have someday
It’s that one useless talent balancing spoons on your nose
And the mug you defend like it’s royalty’s repose.
So what makes a person unique? A roster of quirks, big and small:
A mix-tape of habits, odd dreams, and that hat with the hole.
If everyone looked the same, the world would be bland and mute
Thank goodness for socks with cartoons, and glorious freedoms to boot.
