Prompt: Create an emergency preparedness plan.
Our family’s plan for fire and quake,
Is a well-oiled plan, for goodness sake!
A binder of folders, ten inches thick,
With every contingency, and every trick.
Page one: “The Alarm,” a piercing wail,
Means “Grab the kids and hit the trail!”
But which trail, you ask? A map is there,
With color-coded lines, drawn with care.
A green line for “Smoke-filled hall,”
A red one for “The house might fall.”
A purple for “A zombie horde,”
(Though that’s not likely, we’ve explored.)
The “Emergency Bag,” a monstrous sack,
Has canned goods, blankets, and a snack.
A crank-powered radio, a compass bright,
And a rubber chicken, to make it light.
So when the sirens start to scream,
Our family’s not a panicked team.
We’ll grab the binder, head for the door,
And check the index, “What’s this for?”
