Prompt: Who do you spend the most time with?
Now retired, my loving wife…
Retirement…
Ten years have danced on silent feet,
Since work’s demands made their retreat.
No clock to punch, no early call,
Just you and I, standing tall.
We wake with sun, or when we please,
A quiet hum upon the breeze.
Coffee brewed, a gentle start,
With every sip, a happy heart.
From garden’s bloom to coastal stride,
Our steps aligned, close by your side.
Shared laughter echoes, soft and true,
In every moment, fresh and new.
We’ve learned new crafts, and old tales told,
Watched seasons turn, seen stories unfold.
Explored new lands, and quiet nooks,
Enriched our lives with countless books.
The kitchen’s hum, a steady song,
Where culinary joys belong.
Together we chop, and stir, and taste,
No single moment gone to waste.
Evenings bring a gentle peace,
As worries and the day’s demands decrease.
A hand to hold, a knowing glance,
In this sweet rhythm, we still dance.
The world outside may spin and churn,
But in our haven, lessons learned
Are simply these: that love’s embrace,
Fills every hour, in every place.
Ten years have flown, a golden stream,
Living out a cherished dream.
And as the future gently calls,
We’ll face it always, side by side, through all.
