I Am Bi-polar – A Poem

My name is Neo, and I am bi-polar.

Sounds like a line from an AA meeting.

It’s just that I am overwhelmingly attracted to you,

the urge to rush to you

or pull you in, is uncontrollable within.

You turn and face away.

Now I am repelled by you,

repulsed by you, driven away by you.

I turn to leave, forget you, replace you

but the urges return,

I must be with you, I need to attach.

I need to rush backwards towards you,

and I know you feel the same.

You turn towards me, to greet me

to meet me, but I am repulsed again.

Our name is Neodymium,

we are rare earth magnets,

we are bi-polar.

Interesting Facts

Neodymium is a rare earth metal with the atomic number 60 and symbol Nd. A lustrous, silvery metal that tarnishes in air, neodymium is an essential component in various high-strength permanent magnets and optical devices. Classified as a metal, it is hard, somewhat malleable, and has a bright, silvery metallic lustre.

– Neodymium magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet available, capable of lifting more than a thousand times their own weight.

– The first commercial use of neodymium was in glass coloration, where it can create stunning shades ranging from pure violet through wine red and warm grey.
