Privacy, Subdued, Blinded

Privacy I seek when I’m subdued,
A private place to contemplate my mood.
Sometimes I am blinded
by just how bloody-minded
I can be.
I’m surprised I’m not abided
by those who are high-minded
enough to know that it’s not really me.
So, wrapped up in my misery I sit,
descending deeper, deep into my pit
of never-ending darkness, never lit
by happiness or joy, so I submit
to never-ending misery and sorrow.
Perhaps I will be happier tomorrow
or maybe I will even try a smile,
prepare myself to go the extra mile
turn around and try to start anew,
move away from all this hullabaloo.
Instead of being weak, become the glue
…or will my saddened mind point-blank construe
that actually I’m happy as I am,
if being sad is happy, that is me.
and there’s no one else that I would rather be.
So, please do not be sorry,
or even start to worry,
because none of this is actually me.

Please note, it’s only a poem, not a cry for help or a hint at reality. I am the happiest person I know and the happiest person you’ll ever get to meet!

Hi, thanks for your comment, but the piece is called, “An Exercise in Rhyming.” So for it not to rhyme would be quite silly.
Anyway, I like a good rhyme, some of my poems do and some of them don’t. Please don’t make a judgement based on this one poem. I have written far worse. 😁

Also, in the UK, Joe is the male short form of Joseph and Jo the female form. Just saying for a friend. 🤣😂

You’ll love this one, it doesn’t rhyme but has words even I can’t remember the meaning of! https://josephmasonauthor.com/2024/08/27/dawning-2/
